Victorian Wire Framed Jardinière
A charming Victorian wire-framed jardinière.
This beautiful late 19th-century jardinière has matured elegantly – it’s clearly aged, but still gracious. The French term “jardinière” literally means “female gardener”; and you can imagine the genteel Victorian ladies tending their plants in this delicately wire-framed planter.
Perfect to hold a trough, or a series of small plant pots, this antique jardinière would grace any garden, balcony, or conservatory. Jardinières were often used for growing culinary herbs, so it could even find a sunny spot indoors as a useful, living-herb rack.
English, late19th century.
