Mid Century Wicker Chairs

An elegant pair of retro basket-style wicker chairs. These 1970s metal-framed wicker chairs are beautifully comfortable, and would look wonderful in a garden room. The term "wicker" actually refers to a traditional weaving technique rather than a material. It comes from the Swedish "wika" meaning to bend, or possibly "vikker" meaning willow. Various plants are used to make wicker furniture including willow, bamboo, reed, and rattan, and increasingly, plastic fibres. Because it's both light and durable, wicker makes perfect indoor-outdoor furniture, as you can move it around to suit you - and the weather. French, circa 1970.
