Grenoble Bistro Table

A beautiful white bistro or gueridon table from Grenoble.

A gueridon table is style of small, circular-topped table which originated in France in the mid 17th century.

This mid 20th century example would most certainly have been used as a bistro table in the busy skiiing resort of Grenoble. Imagine all the glasses of Vin Chaud that have rested on its white-painted top! We like to imagine that the white paint reflected the table's snowy alpine environment. We can be so clear about its origins as its place of manufacture is clearly cast in its heavy base.

A very attractive and decorative piece.

French, circa 1950s.
