Pair of Whitewashed Jarres
This really attractive pair of whitewashed storage jarres were made in the Peloponnesus region of Greece in the villages around the town Koroni. They were handmade and built up level by level by about 5cm-10cm a day hence the definitive ribs.
They were used to store olive oil and vegetables but the water content in the clay made them unsuitable for wine. They would look as good in the garden as they do in the home and together make an interesting focal point.
