French Anduze Urn
A 19th century "Jarre d'Anduze" urn from France. It is made from terracotta in an understated pale orange. It has traces of original glaze, and a clear maker's.
Anduze, a small village in the foothills of the Cevennes ranges, grew famous for its clay pots, urns and jars, a legacy of the Medici design. Today, this little township close to Provence is known worldwide for its garden vases and orange planters, signature landscaping features of Versailles.
This appealing urn would look superb planted up in a garden room or on a patio.
