Arras Banc Americain
A white-painted Arras "Banc Americain". This three-seater bench featured in Grassin-Baledans catalogue of 1874. The frame is the traditional Arras design with the signature lion's claw feet of pieces from this period; however the planks are made from sheet metal shaped to represent timber, to replicate the more rustic American look. It's been restored in antique white paint, as the finish was not **. Today, it's in good condition (subject to the odd authentic rust hole). Its well-thought out curves and angles makes it surprisingly comfortable to sit on! French, 1870s
