Arras Plant Stand
A lovely 4-tier Arras plant stand from principal manufacturer Grassin Baledans.
The term "Arras" refers to garden furniture and equipment produced in the eponymous French region between 1840 and 1920, from semi-hollow steel tubing known as "fer elegi". These elegant plant stands featured in the 1874 catalogue from Grassin Baledans, and could be as tall as 8 tiers high.
This 4-tier plant stand was originially used for potting in a greenhouse. These days, that would be considered rather a waste! The stand could be the foundation for a fantastic floral display in a conservatory or garden room.
French, circa 1870s.
