Pair of 19th Century Fauteuils
A pair of lovely 19th-century fauteuils with their original green paint.
A fauteuil is a style of open-arm chair that originated in France in the 17th century.
This pair has round hand-punched mesh seats and elegant oval backs. The hand-forged frames have a decorative scrolled pattern - they look delicate, however, the weight of these chairs indicates the robust quality of their construction!
The original greeny-turquoise colour is extremely attractive. These chairs would make a lovely addition to a balcony, patio, or garden room.
French, circa 1885.
